Get to know this tool

Text to Speech Reader turns written text into spoken audio using the natural voices already installed on your device. Paste an article, pick a voice, set the pace, and listen — no sign-up, no character limits from us, and no audio processing on a server.

What is a Text to Speech Reader and Why is it Useful?

Text-to-speech (TTS) converts written words into audible speech. It's an accessibility essential for people with visual impairments or dyslexia, but its everyday uses go far beyond that: listening to long articles while cooking or commuting, proofreading your own writing by ear (mistakes jump out when you hear them), practicing pronunciation in a foreign language, or simply resting your eyes after a long screen day. This reader taps the speech engine built into your operating system, so the voices sound familiar and natural, and everything works offline.

Key Features

  • All your system voices: Every voice installed on your device appears in the list — across languages, including Turkish and English variants.
  • Full playback control: Speak, pause, resume and stop, with a live progress bar as the text is read.
  • Adjustable speed: From a relaxed 0.5× to a brisk 2× — ideal for skimming or careful listening.
  • Pitch and volume controls: Fine-tune how the voice sounds, from deep and calm to bright and energetic.
  • Smart default voice: The reader pre-selects a voice matching the page language, so it works instantly.
  • Private by architecture: The text is synthesized by your device's own speech engine — it is never uploaded.

How to Use the Text to Speech Reader?

  1. Type or paste your text into the box (or load the sample to try it out).
  2. Choose a voice from the list — the language in parentheses shows what each voice speaks best.
  3. Adjust speed, pitch and volume to taste.
  4. Press Speak and listen; use Pause/Resume and Stop as needed.
  5. Change the settings and press Speak again to compare voices.

Why Choose This Tool?

Many online TTS services upload your text to their servers, cap free usage at a few hundred characters, and watermark or restrict the audio. This reader takes a different approach: it uses the Web Speech API, which drives your device's built-in speech engine directly. That means unlimited length, zero network traffic for the audio, instant playback and complete privacy — the text never leaves your machine.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why do the available voices differ between my devices?

Voices come from the operating system, not from this site. Windows, macOS, Android and iOS each ship different voice sets, and you can usually install more from your system's language settings.

Can I download the speech as an MP3?

Not from this tool — the Web Speech API plays audio but doesn't expose a recording of it. For listening, playback here is unlimited and instant.

Does it support Turkish?

Yes. If your device has a Turkish voice installed (most do), it will appear in the list and is auto-selected on the Turkish version of this page.

Is there a length limit?

No practical one — long articles work fine. Very long texts can take a moment to begin on some browsers; you can always stop and restart from an edited selection.
